Driving to Florida — Day one

When we got back from Dallas in early February, we could tell something was wrong with Grace — she was constantly asking for water and peeing frequently. The vet confirmed something we had feared for a long time, that her kidneys were starting to go and our time left with her was limited.

We’d had a trip planned for months to see Joanna’s college roommate Andrea and her family in Florida at the end of February. After some lengthy discussion, we decided to cancel our plane tickets and drive to Tampa, so that we could take Grace with us. As usual, she traveled in style, winning over the concierge at the hotel and chowing down on the tailgate in the parking lot of a restaurant.
