Driving to Florida — Day two
February 20, 2011
After spending the night in North Carolina, we had breakfast in Raleigh and headed south.
Tim was on a Nascar sponsor hunt while we were in the Carolinas. We had breakfast at Bojangles, where I got biscuits and gravy (of course). We shopped at Harris Teeter and hunted down Speed energy drink (sold by driver Robby Gordon). I suppose I should be thankful we arrived in Georgia without any malt liquor or cigarettes.
We stopped in Savannah for lunch as I’d never seen the town before. It was absolutely beautiful and I wish we’d had more time to explore the area. Grace had some rare bursts of energy, walking the 6 or so blocks from the car to the center of town, where she was adored (rightly so) while we ate. We left reluctantly after only a couple of hours in order to arrive in Tampa before the sun set.
We made it to Sean and Andi’s house by 6 pm, exhausted but happy to see dear friends. Once Joanna fished Grace out of the pool (we suspect Grace thought it was an enormous drinking bowl, and tipped in when she bent down to drink) and we’d both dried off, we enjoyed dinner and collapsed into bed.
