Bliss family visit — Day two
June 10, 2011
When the Blisses came out for their annual visit in June, we took the NBC Studio Tour and did a few others things in Manhattan.
After our family dinner on Thursday night (barbeque short ribs and various Tiki fare), we took the ferry into the city on Friday morning for lunch at the Shake Shack and touring around town.
Our first stop was the tour at NBC Studios. It was actually a decent tour, about 2 hours long, and we got to see where SNL performs, and where Brian Williams does the news in his boxers (just kidding). Katie and I ended up doing the fake news at the end of the tour. I’m embedding it not so much because we did a good job, but because I find it fascinating that you can see through the stripes on my dress because they were green, which gives the weather report a very eerie vibe.
Then we headed across the street to St. Patrick’s Cathedral on 5th Avenue. I don’t think this is the best photo I took at the church, but I think it’s the most accurate pic I’ve taken of Tim’s mom. Yes, that blur is Jane.
From there, our group split up. I took Geri to see MoMA, where we wandered around the galleries and took photos for inspiration at home and her art gallery where she works. Afterwards, we took a break on the patio, eating gelato and enjoying the outdoor sculptures.
Tim took the rest of the crowd, via some other churches in Midtown, to Niketown to do some shopping. We all met back in Hoboken, where we had dinner at the Brass Rail before heading to bed.
