Bliss family visit — Day three
June 11, 2011
On Saturday, we took a divide and conquer approach, spending most of the day apart and then coming together for dinner.
While Tim played tennis with Mike at his club, several others enjoyed breakfast at La Isla, a place in Hoboken renowned for its stuffed French toast. Then Geri and I headed into the city for brunch at db Bistro Moderne (yum!) before going to the matinee of Anything Goes. The show was SO GOOD and we were so happy to see it just before it got several Tonys that weekend.
It turned out we were lucky to be indoors. The rest of the family had gone to Yankee Stadium and ended up buying out the closest gift shop of all the sweatshirts just to stay warm. At least they enjoyed the game?
That night, we met up at the W’s lounge for cocktails and then drove into the city for dinner at Gotham, a place we’d been dying to try for a while. The food was excellent and, clearly, so was the wine. A late night followed by an early flight back to Chicago the next morning.
