Chicago — Day one
July 29, 2011
I headed back to Chicago at the end of July to visit with my friend April, meet her two sons, and enjoy a girls’ weekend with lots of old friends.
I flew in late Thursday evening and arose early on Friday morning to have breakfast with April, her husband Gordan, and their two boys: Gabriel (21 months) and Adrian (3 months). We had a typically mommy day — laundry, a trip to the park, Gabriel’s nap, and some time in the backyard by the (kiddie) pool. Holly Morrison Iglinski, wife of one of Tim’s former Lexus colleagues, came by and joined us for lunch from Leona’s, bringing 6-month-old son Max for a quick visit.
When Gordan got home from work, he took over with the boys and April and I headed to Oak Park to have dinner at one of my favorite restaurants, New Rebozo, with sorority sister Courtney Dill and friend Liz Teague. Chef Paco still greeted us with familiar hugs and even noticed that Liz, who still lives in OP, had cut her hair. The mole was just as good as I remembered, if not better. Same went for the conversation. =)
